Battle of Vimy Ridge was the first occasion on which all four divisions of the
Canadian Expeditionary Force participated in a battle as a cohesive formation
and it became a Canadian national symbol of achievement and sacrifice.
For Canada, the Battle of Vimy Ridge became known as “The Birth Of A Nation”.
One can only imagine the horrors of trench warfare that the troops had to overcome to achieve victory, from the barrage of the heavy artillery guns to navigating the trenches and tunnels of the battlefield.
