Army T-Shirt Once A Gunner: 105 Howitzer Gunners WW2 Design

Military T-Shirt Sales! Cotton T-Shirts, Sizes Small - 3XL

To honour / honor the Field Artillery (The Gunners) this Army T-shirt with a 105 mm howitzerknown as the "one-oh-five" or "ten-five" was created. The 105 was the standard light howitzer of the US Army in World War II. The 105 standard light howitzer entered production in 1941, and quickly gained a reputation for accuracy and a powerful punch with a range of 12300 yds. (11270 m) either way that is almost 7 miles (11 ¼ km.). 10202 howitzers were produced and they were run by a crew of 8. They weighed 2.5 tons with a barrel length that was 7'7” (2.31 m) Caliber: 4.1” (105 mm). The Rate of Fire for a crew could be up to 10 rounds per min.

One WW2 account by a German Wehrmacht Infantry Officer wounded by a howitzer shrapnel explained it as the missile exploding into many small fragments. This Officer was on the front lines with the barrage of bombardments happening and did not notice that shrapnel had struck his right thigh. Feeling hot he reached into his pocket and this is when he noticed the kerchief was bloody and that he had been wounded: with howitzers the shrapnel explodes and blasts outwards in many directions.

Not having access to brass ink, our screen printer compromised and did the shells in a metallic copper to give the shells an enhanced mortar shell look.

Inspiration for this design came from our hometown of Guelph, Ontario Canada. Home of the 11th Field Artillery Regiment. During the Second World War, the 29th Battery mobilized first. It went oversees in 1939 as part of the 3rd Field Brigade, which became the 11th Brigade, Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA). In 1942 the Brigade was renamed the 11th Field Regiment RCA. They fought in Sicily and Italy, moving into Europe after D-Day.
