This premium preshrunk 100% cotton commemorative t-shirt in the collection of military-themed t-shirts with embroidery is all about ‘The Battle of Britain’ to honour /  honor all those who lived through it and to honor / honour “The Few” that fought in it.

As with all embroidered t-shirts this shirt has both screen printed and embroidery elements incorporated into the design. The front of the shirt features an Allied Super Marine Spitfire Airplane along with a Hawker Hurricane plane battling it out with a German Messerschmitt Bf 109, (Me 109) and a Junkers JU88.

The battle takes place within a Royal Union Flag (Union Jack) over a silhouette of the British Parliament Buildings and therein featuring the iconic ‘Big Ben’, the name given to the massive bell inside the clock tower / Elizabeth Tower of London’s Houses of Parliament in England.

Featured on the sleeve is the embroidered design we call Axis and O’s with the R.A.F. Roundel and the German Balkenkreuz battling it out in a game of Tic-Tac-Toe.

The back of the shirt reads like this:

“Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few”. Sir Winston Churchill.

The Battle of Britain lasted 112 days from July 10th to October 31st, 1940.

It got its name before it started. Churchill predicted a showdown with Germany when he said, “The Battle of France is over. I expect the Battle of Britain is about to begin.” It was the first battle in history waged almost exclusively in the air.

The battle included one of the earliest uses of radar in combat, the secret weapon of the R.A.F. Radar gave early warning of Luftwaffe raids, which would ‘scramble’ fighters into action.

On September 7th, it became clear that Germany was failing to win the air fight although, the Blitz that followed killed more than 40000 British civilians. While the bombings took a toll on British civilians it also temporarily relieved pressure on the R.A.F. allowing them to repair their crippled airfields and refresh their pilots.

3080 men from fourteen nations fought to save Britain.

The Polish #303 Fighter Squadron downed 126 German planes during the battle— more than any Allied unit.

Throughout the battle, the R.A.F. lost 1012 aircraft and 537 Airmen compared to the loss of the Luftwaffe’s 1918 aircraft and 2662 Airmen.

The Battle of Britain was Germany’s first major defeat in World War II. It is remembered as Britain's finest hour.

‘The Few’ Flew and fought and many died that we might live in Freedom!
