Each of the embroidered commemorative shirts which has over 37,000 stitches of embroidery and features an orange tulip to represent the Dutch house of Orange. In the tulip, one can see the blood trickle down to form a Maple Leaf representing Canada's involvement in the Liberation. Now look closely at the leaf; it is made up of Canadian Soldiers marching into Holland. The Holland on the right sleeve is done in the red, white and blue of the Dutch flag colours / colors.
From September 1944 to April 1945, the First Canadian Army fought German forces on the Scheldt estuary — opening the port of Antwerp for Allied use — and then cleared northern and western Netherlands of Germans, allowing food and other relief to reach millions of desperate people. In the Netherlands, Liberation Day (Dutch: Bevrijdingsdag) is celebrated each year on May the 5th to mark the end of the occupation by Nazi Germany.
For the ladies if you order this unisex design, we
recommend you drop a size. For example, a small will fit like a ladies medium.
The embroidery process requires the shirt to be
hooped so that it can be embroidered, some shirts have a hoop mark around the
design. This mark will disappear once the shirt is washed. If you would
like to wear the shirt before it is laundered, you can dampen your fingers and
literally rub the mark away. We recommend that when you wash the shirt,
be sure to turn it inside out and we highly recommend that the shirt be hung to
dry to keep it in pristine condition.
With our past
fundraising initiatives, people have enabled us to donate over 75 THOUSAND
DOLLARS of which, 54 Thousand was used to successfully commemorate the lives
lost by Canadian soldiers on the beaches of Normandy during World War II. Now
the fund-raising goal is focused on providing professionally trained service
dogs to the members of our First Responders along with the Women and Men of the
Armed Forces who suffer from P.T.S.D. We invite you to please give generously
