Over 56000 stitches of embroidery goes into each shirts D-Day Design. Which features the Invasion Stripes (right down to the rivets).  On top of the Stripes, is the Invasion Star which incorporates the 5 beaches of Normandy from the D-Day Invasion on June 6th 1944 (Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Sword Beach, Gold Beach and Juno Beach).   In the center of the Invasion Star is the SHAEF insignia, surrounded by the flags of the countries that had the largest impact on the invasion.

The design of the insignia for the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) was approved by General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Commander for Operation OVERLORD, and came into general use in March 1944.

Each element in the insignia is symbolic. The main feature is the flaming sword of avenging justice of the allies, shown piercing the black of Nazi oppression. Above the sword is a rainbow, a symbol of hope and of peace to come.  It is made up of a snippet of colour from all the allied countries flags that participated in the Normandy landing. Then powder blue, above the rainbow represents a new day and a new beginning for France and Europe once they are liberated. After the war when the United Nations opened, they carried over the powder blue from this design to the U.N., that is why our peace keepers wear the powder blue berets.

The back of the shirt features our clothing line logo, D-Day Wear®. Our logo done in red, white and blue, features a red maple leaf for Canada, a white crown for Great Britain and a blue Star for the U.S.A. During World War Two all those colours appeared in the flags our countries fought under.

There is no better video about what it must have been like to be a soldier participating in the D-Day Invasion during the Battle of Normandy France during the Second World War, than the beach landing scene in Saving Private Ryan (WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENTALL THE COPYRIGHTS OF THIS VIDEO IS OWNED BY "Paramount Pictures"

War history online stated that Saving Private Ryan Depicted War So Realistically That It Triggered PTSD among Veterans Who Watched It.  The first 27 minutes of the film offers an incredible insight into the horrors of Omaha Beach landings, which took place on June 6th, 1944, as the main characters’ battle almost seemingly impossible conditions while being pinned down on the beach. What strikes people the most is the realistic depiction of the landing, as it doesn’t present the soldiers as superheroes, but rather as confused and scared men who are simply doing their best to survive. Read the full article Here:

The embroidery process requires the shirt to be hooped so that it can be embroidered, some shirts have a hoop mark around the design.  This mark will disappear once the shirt is washed. If you would like to wear the shirt before it is laundered, you can dampen your fingers and literally rub the mark away.  We recommend that when you wash the shirt, be sure to turn it inside out and we highly recommend that the shirt be hung to dry to keep it in pristine condition.

Sometimes, dye lots are different and the colour may vary.
